Research & Assessment
Before any work begins, we thoroughly research the piece — its period, style, original construction methods, and appropriate materials. This informs every decision we make.
Structural Repair
The foundation of good restoration is structural integrity. We use traditional joinery techniques, hide glue (the same adhesive used by original craftsmen), and period-appropriate methods to ensure authenticity.
Surface Treatment
Stripping and refinishing requires tremendous care. We aim to preserve as much of the original surface as possible, only removing damage while retaining the character and patina that makes antique furniture so valuable.
Upholstery
For upholstered pieces, we source period-appropriate fabrics and use traditional upholstery techniques including hand-stitching, horsehair stuffing, and webbing supports where appropriate.
